Comfort food comes to a close second to my unhealthy obsession with brunch food; eating at Burgoo did not help ease off that addiction.

Burgoo specializes in creating comfort food from all around the world. So you will find tummy soothing dishes from far off places like France, down south US, Columbia, Ireland and many more.

I had very fond memories of devouring their Brie Fondue (roast garlic, honey, thyme, and white wine served with red grapes, apple, grape tomatoes and crusty friend) so I suggested maybe trying out another type. For something closer to home, we picked the ‘Canada’ influenced Smoked Cheddar and Spinach Fondue.

It was a fairly simple fondue but it was nice to taste the hint of smokiness to it. I’m not sure what’s in that cheese but even with extra bread I still couldn’t get enough of it.

One Dove and I shared an open-faced sandwich: Chicken Caesar Clubhouse – roasted chicken with bacon and Parmesan, drizzled with Caesar dressing and topped with romaine and cucumber served on toasted multigrain. And wow was it multi-layered and multi-flavoured sandwich. It may not be the healthiest with the Caesar dressing but the mix of crunch and chicken hit the spot.

My glowing beautiful mommy-to-be friend ordered a big steamy cup of Straight Up Tomato soup.

My stomach must have been a bottomless well because I enthusiastically said yes to dessert. We ordered the bundt cake with ice cream off of their special menu. It was a thick piece of heaven soaked in syrup…guilty pleasure to the maximum.

Service at Burgoo was attentive and friendly, and like with all restaurants that I’ve gone for dinner, I can’t wait to go back for brunch.

mmm i haven’t been to burgoo in years but i have fond memories of it. i should really check out the one on main. my faves were always the stews there. I didn’t even know they served fondue but i’d love to try it at some point. i remember the price points seemed reasonable too.

Ok. I need to stop reading your blog late at night. Because I literally ate a grilled cheese sandwich and a dripping-with-icing piece of carrot cake, like an hour ago (i know, so late at night, i’m gross) and yet I read the fabulous Senses and Style and my stomach starts growling. This happens every time. I’m eating at Burgoo tomorrow damnit, that fondue had me sold before I even read open-faced-sandwich with bacon.

@Liv actually prefer the Brie over the smoked Cheddar I had. Really liked the taste of honey and wine in the fondue. The prices were decent actually.

@Niki haha anything with bacon tastes better ;-) I am jealous about that carrot cake..I’m perfectly happy just eating the frosting

Wow this looks amazing! That’s it, I’m forcing the boy to go here next time instead of the chinese place across the street!

Did you hear though? On the news yesterday they had this story about how places, including Burgoo, are putting these new “surcharges” on all their food b/c of the Olympics! Talk about price gouge :(
